Professional
In the real (?) world, I do a lot of C++, OpenGL, and Python coding on Redstone Arsenal as an Army contractor, working on missile-related software.
Personal
I've been reading science fiction since I was a kid. Favorite authors include the obvious, like Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein, and Arthur C. Clarke. More recent favorites include Larry Niven, David Brin, Gregory Benford, Vernor Vinge, Stephen Baxter, and Charles Stross. I could list many more, but I don't want to bore people -- more then I already am. :-)
I'm secretary of the local science fiction (NASFA, http://con-stellation.org/nasfa) and astronomy (VBAS, http://www.vbas.org) clubs. I've been going to meetings of the local anime club (HAAS, http://haas-online.net/) semi-regularly for several months.
I only got into comics in the last few years. I'm a regular at Haven Comics in Madison. That's how I got into a Dungeons and Dragons game about a year ago, even though I'd never played it before -- or any other dice role-playing game.
I was looking for a smart, geeky woman with some interests in common with me. I believe I've found her.
